I just broke 40 mpg in my 2001 Cavalier. I have a base model 5sp. I was able to get 512.9 miles to my last tank giving my an average of 40.3 mpg.

I just wanted put it out there that these cars can be great on gas as well was be cheap to own and operate.

My SC Cavy eats gas like a 5 year old eats candy!!

I might, might see 20 mpg!! I think I've actaully seen the gas gauge move when stomping the gas hard!

Eh...old man with a Corvette now...it was bound to happen sooner rather than later right?

When driving straight down from PA to SC I got 40 MPG on my Automatic Ecotec.

That was staying just slightly over speed limit, on the way back I didn't get quite as good =)

I just drove to pick my friend up from school this weekend and back

I got 34 on the way there and 36 on the way back with my 05 eco auto =D
and AC was on a good chunk of the way

Lanman31337 -F = fatties = do not want. A little chunk in the junk is ok though.

Best I've yet to get works out to just over 40mpg. Oddly enough that was with 800lbs of all my stuff in the car with me, going about 107km/hr. This is still less than what it is rated at (47mpg Canada), which works out to just over 41mpg.

I have actually gotten the rated city mileage though.

The J cars were never rated at 47 MPG. My 98 is only rated at 30 MPG per the new EPA rating system. Even in the city I still get 26-29 MPG.

the highest I've ever gotten is 35, 32 with a busted intake (figure that one out), and the lowest was roughly 30

i just realized i need to recount my mileage pretty soon

My modded 2.4 5 speed usually gets about 28 in town, and 34/35 on the highway. That includes revving gears out every now and then, not redline or anything, but a good 4500 or 5k shift just feels too good to pass up once or twice per day.

I've had 32 mpg city and 39 highway, but that included a lot of drafting on the interstate following my buddies Cherokee and running gas without ethanol since we were down south. Ethanol = teh mileage murderer.

Get all the parts you need in a pile, and drive the car into it.

ive never taken mine on a trip longer the 100 miles, but i average about 31-32 filing up with 1/4 tank still in the tank, and that is about 70% city driving and 30% highway...

I have the window sticker right infront of me. 47 highway, 30 city. That's on a Canadian gallon, which for some reason is larger than the American gallon.
