HELP!!! Head torque sequence
Saturday, November 01, 2008 4:21 PM
My parts store doesn't have a manuel in stock and i am replacing a lifter. What is the torque sequence for bolting the head back on and the rockers when I get to that part.

Thanks

First this should be in maintenance,

I'm assuming you have a 2.2L or 2200, since you stated you have rocker arms.Read this thread, I posted the answer in the first reply.

As for the rocker arms, do you have the stock rocker arms or aftermarket roller rockers?

i'm sorry I didn't know where to put it. Yes I have the 2.2 with stock rockers.
So to replace a lifter I will need a new headgasket, lifter, head bolts.....anything else?

The Fel-Pro Hed Gasket Set has all the gaskets you need for the top end.

The rocker arms are non-adjustable, just torque them to 22 ft. lbs.

On a side note: If you haven't already replaced it and you have over 100K miles, start planning on replacing the timing chain. The easiest way is through the passenger side wheel well. It's not any harder than doing the head, but done from the wheel well and underneath (you'll need to drop the oil pan).
