Reprogramming remote/keyless entry

I just bought a 1997 Cavalier LS 'vert and it didn't come with the keyless remote. I have an extra brand new GM keyless remote and am wondering how I can program it without heading up to the stealership. Does anyone have the instructions for reprogramming? Thanks.
