Its a good read if you're an engineer and clueless about vehicles in general. But they do have a number of things wrong from a general standpoint. But then again I'm just nitpicking.
-They list SAE sockets and wrenches as needed when obviously they meant metric.
-They call the coil pack a "distributor".
-They call the knock sensor a "temperature sensor"
-They call the main bearing caps "crankshaft clamps"
-They call the rod bearing caps "piston clamps"
- THEY USED VISE GRIPS TO TAKE THE ROD BEARING CAPS OFF!!!!!!
-They call the belt tensioner assembly a "camshaft pulley"
-They call the valve lifters "pushrod seats" and their description of operation is incomplete.
-They have the pictures for the oil pressure and the oil temperature switch reversed.
-Their description of the oil pressure switch is wrong.
-They are calling the serpentine belt a "timing belt"
-They are saying the "crankshaft clamps" are made of aluminum.
-They are saying the engine has 3 spark plugs. ?
-They are describing the camshaft as being extruded and cast (2 different manufacturing techniques)
-They are saying the camshaft is a straight tube with pressed on cams. (The 2.2 uses one solid casting with the cams machined into it.)
-They are saying the 2.2 uses lost foam casting on the block, but it is sand cast
-They are saying the rocker arms are cast, when in reality they are stamped steel.
-They are arguing that simply switching to an overhead cam design will significantly improve performance and fuel ecomomy even though they mentioned a direct comparison earlier in the study with a SOHC Mazda 2.2, and the OHV 2.2 made more power with the same displacement.
-They mention that with an OHC design, VVT can be implemented, but GM uses it already on some of their V-6 engines that are pushrod designs.
-They state that the 2.2 uses throttle body injection, when it is obviously MPFI.
-
My thoughts: It's a pretty straightforward enineering analysis, but there is a reason certain skilled people design and work on engines, and others just need to stay away.

Currently 3rd quickest Ecotec on the .org - 10.949 @ 131.50 MPH!!!
Wow. I now understand why they say "those that can't do, teach"
Valve housing! I ROTFL'ed so hard they thought I was Party Rockin lol
they called the lifter a pushrod seat and i do love the belt wheel
