traction control question
Tuesday, March 05, 2013 7:04 PM
so i read that all 4t40's have traction control. but i dont have ABS and i thought traction control uses the ABS. so if i dont have ABS, how do i still have traction control? unless i am misunderstanding this concept completely. or am i dumb and just completely missed the ABS sensor?

Abs is only attached to the MC. Pretty sure both systems use the same signal from the wheel speed sensors.

Have a nice day.

It reads transmission output shaft speed IIRC.

If you have no ABS (03-05 model years), then you have no traction control... because you have no ABS wheel sensors to read speed from... so the system has no way of knowing when a wheel is slipping.

You can install it... but you need to install a new Master Cylinder with the ABS functions, as well as all the wiring harness and the wheel sensors to each wheel. Quite a bit of work for a system that most people look to disable..
