Looking to get my hands on a nice clean, 2-door 2.4 liter Cavalier. I have nationwide search/email alerts on a couple sites but I rarely get alerts because they seem lik they're hard to find.
Are they going to get harder to find as the years go on? I am looking for a Gen 3 (1995-2002 I believe is the last year they made the 2.4liter).
Rust free.

Sorry, I forgot to note: I WANT A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. Not an automatic.
Is it very hard to find a 2.4l with manual transmission?
Grab that one. They are rare as hen's teeth !
After my ordeal with a little old lady turning left in front of me (see thread about it) I was unable to find another 5 speed Z 24 listed online in the whole country !
I had to fix the car myself (don't get me started on insurance companies) and purchased a 2000 Z24 convertible with under 60k miles.
It's an automatic, but it's now my "Good Weather" car which will live in the garage, and the coupe is the winter car.

Didn't even know there was a convertible version Z24.
I want a manual transmission, period. My current Cavalier is a four-door manual. I just wish I had that extra 30HP out of that 2.4L than my 2.2L and I could probably live with it.

The one I posted a link to above is a
2.4L with a 5 speed manual transmission, or that is what it says anyway.
Give then a call. It might be a longs was off, or not, I don't know where you live. Anyway, if it suits your needs, it would be worth a plane ride to buy it and drive it back home. Cash would likely get it for quite a bit less than their advertise price too.
A few clicks after reading that ad says "Spradley Kia" is in Pueblo Colorado.
I called the company that listed the Z24 coupe listed with a 5 speed manual. It has an AUTOMATIC !!!
Grrr.
My post from yesterday didn't come up with the car from Spradley Kia in Colorado, it showed a Z in Everett WA.
I called them and sure enough, it is an automatic. Nice car though.]
Good luck to you in your search.
Does anyone know how to find original production numbers for 5 speed models?
I would really be interested in finding out how rare my car actually might be.
It would be interesting to know.
I am in fact looking for a 2.4liter Z24 manual trans....I think they stopped making the 2.4 in 2002 (or even maybe before that)???
Soooooo....any nice 2.4 liter manual transmission Cavies. Out there ANYWHERE???
Sold my Z24 5 speed coupe, but still have my Z convertible.
There is a guy who has a 2002 2.4l with manual trans and cold air intake - it's a "junker" - the guy tells me he didn't get the title for the car when he got it.
He says he traded a truck for it or something.
He doesn't have the title for it though!!!! Wants only $800 dollars - it's a 2 hour drive from me.
And then I just looked twice at the listing. In the upper part of the listing they list it as "5-Speed manual trans" and then down in the details they say it's a 4 speed automatic. Bollocks.
Call them. Since there is a discrepancy, it would be worth asking them to go out and check it.
if you are close to ct i have a silver 00z. just did a new clutch and slave cylinder. less than 1k miles on a proper 1 in ch drop with proper shocks.
