I know my CEL is on because of the catalytic converter. The thing hasn't had anything in it for over a year, it's just a shell. But for some reason I never had a code until recently. I cleared the code but it keeps coming back. The car still runs fine but I'm wondering if the ECU will eventually go into a loop if it hasn't already.
you need to run an o2 simulator to stop that from happening
rksport.com sells them

I'd like to know why it suddenly decided to throw a code and if it will put the ECU in a loop. I know there's the O2 sims out there, that's not why I'm asking. Besides, I never needed one before, I shouldn't need one now.
yea you should dont know why you never got cel from the start
other night i unplugged rear o2 sensor and tripped 02 with in seconds

the sensor after the cat doesn't have anything to do with engine performance, it is just there to monitor the efficiency of your catalytic converter. It is odd that you didn't throw a code until now, but it shouldn't affect engine performance if the code is for the monitoring sensor.
