This just started happening like 2 days ago. Normally, after driving with my radio on, and after I shut the car off (without opening the door to get out) the radio stays on for about 10 minutes. This is a 2000 Cavalier Z24, also. Once I opened the door, the dome light would come on and the radio would go off, which is normal. Now, once I turn the car off and open the door, the dome light takes a minute to come on or it doesn't come on, and the radio doesn't shut off. It still does after 10 minutes, but why is the car doing that now? Is there a fuse somewhere that I need to check?
I sprayed a little WD-40 on it and pressed it in a few times, but it didn't help, I thought maybe it was sticking. How do I fix this? Now the dome light won't even come on unless I turn it on, and the radio won't go off (it will after 10 min) unless I pull the fuse. I haven't messed with any wiring whatsoever, but I did take the door panels off to clean them and to clean the contact areas to get rid of years of dirt. I put everything back the way it was, but this was after the dome light & radio started acting up so I don't know if it's related?
can anyone else confirm if it is a bad door switch?
I also believe it is the door switch. You do not need to take off the door panel to access it. It is near your left foot, behind the long door sill plastic.

ok, thanks. I just meant that I took the door panel off to clean behind it (when I detail a car, oh it's thorough, lol). I will get a new switch and see if that fixes the problem.
