My mom's mini-van ('98 Olds) leaves her stranded every once in a while by not starting. Most of the time it won't even crank over, just nothing, sometimes it will click, sometimes it will turn a couple times and not fire...and sometimes it will start.
From what she has said, it seems there might be a pattern regarding ambient temperature, not starting mainly when it's hot out (we average about 110F out here during the summer). The last time I was present when it was having problems, I checked the battery and it was a good 12.6V, and the battery is less than a year old from what she told me. I personally replaced the starter not 6 months ago.
The strangest part, if she lets it sit for a couple hours, all is well.
Anyone familiar with this situation? Anything that can be checked for?
TIA

You probably already have, but did you check for loose wires?
Im learning towards the starter solenoid. Im sure your well aware that its ever so possable to get "new" parts that are junk. Maybe the starter you got was built with weak parts.
Another idea is the key switch. If its 110 outside then the inside of the car has to be blazing.

It's either loose wiring to the solenoid (had that) or a bad soleniod (also had that).
Frustrating as crap because one day - it just won't start. Period.
