Driving good then over heated???
Sunday, August 24, 2008 6:59 PM
Just sold the civic and I went to get my Cavy out of the shop where I have been working on it and when I was driving home it was running fine. Half way home the temp gage starts to go past the second line after the 195 mark while driving then the next line then the I am in the 3/4 mark on temp. So I turn the heater on full blast to help but by the time I got home the cluster said "CHECK GAGES" and I was about a tenth of a thousandth away from hitting the red overheat mark.
Okay so before this I had just done the following; a brand new radiator (from GM), new radiator hoses, new thermostat, new radiator tank, new cap for that, fan works, heater works, no leaks, new coolant with distilled water as stated on the warranty of the new radiator, a few months ago a new water pump, new belt, just did the oil change and tune up.
Also, the little screw that you use to bleed the heater core with was missing so I couldn't bleed it so I raised the car up from the front as high as I could. (sounds stupid but I did)
HELP ME!

How long were you driving before the temperature started rising? Did it sit at normal temp for a while after heating up? How fast were you driving?

I was driving maybe 45-50 mph got to normal temp then just kept on going up. Took it to the Stealership and they are saying that the thermostat may be to blame but it is brand new like everything else. I am stumpted. everything new but still over heats???

Just got back from the stealership and after $200 f!@#ing dollars it turns out it was the thermostat; the brand new thermostat from Autozone. It wouldn't open and this is the second time I bought a thermostat from them and my car overheated. Stupid Fs from now on AC Delco all the way! No more cheap S#!+ !
