Hello i have a 2005 pontiac sunfire. Over the past 2 weeks i noticed a loud whistling/ squeeling/ metal on metal type sound every time i make right turns....it stops when i straighten the wheels out. Every once in a while i will have a twigg or rock in my hubcap and it would whistle very lightly then eventually stop. I thought thats what it was....but this is when i make right turns at any given speed. Its usually much worse in the morning. There is no noise whatsoever making left turns. I took my hubcap off yesterday to check it out and everything looks good. I dont think its my brakes because it dont make noise when i am braking. Just turning to the right. It is getting very annoying!!!! People are starting to turn around and stare an me on the street when they hear me coming. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Maybe a belt broke somewhere? I have no idea.
First thing- check your power steering fluid.
If its low, that will cause your problem, but the only reason it would be low is because of a leak, so re-filling it will only be a temporary fix. Your power steering drives off the camshaft and has no belt, so that ain't it.
if its power steering it would do it both left and right atleast in the cases i have seen
whats your pad & rotor condition it could be the wear indicator rubbing the rotor, i have seen the pads wear a ridge in the rotor and that indicator rub on the high spot
if you have new brakes i would maybe get some brake grease and lube the contact points
