I have a 95 Sunfire GT, with 2.3 and 5 speed.
On my way to work this morning, I noticed that my speedo wasn't working. Then, further into the trip, my CEL came on. I don't know if the two are related.
I rotated my tires yesterday and checked the oil level in the tranny, and nothing was out of the ordinary. Is there a chance I accidently disconnected my connection to the speedo? I don't know where the pickup is on the Isuzu tranny.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

same thing happens in my truck, in my case it ends up that they ignition key gets stuck between start and run. The starter is obviously no longer engaged, but it wont go fully into the run position, therefore the cluster doesnt get power (or the radio, or anything else that shuts off during crank), and eventually my CEL will come on.
not saying thats whats happening to you, but try to click the key back if it happens (not when your driving down the road obviously incase you accidentally shut it off) and see if that helps.
Thanks for responding John. I'll give it a shot.
As far as I can tell, I think I may have knocked some wires out of place on the tranny.
It seems to me that the upshift light wasn't working, either. I will have to check it more carefully on the way home.
