Lately my car will start for a second and then turn right off. it will keep doing this until about the 30th time when it will start and stay running. It only does this on a cooler engine and not when it is fully warm. Also, my cluster gauges are all over the place and the lights flicker. My service engine light and theft light come on when the gauges act funny. After I drive the car for about 5-10 minutes everything seems fine. I think it might be something with my BCM or PCM or some computer. Does anybody know what this is? Thanks.
test your battery and alternator before you start blaming the pcm or bcm. 99% of the time, the pcm is not the problem.
the beginning of this sounds like the passlock system.
Other than that.....probably an electrical problem, have any wiring done lately?
Well I know for a fact that my battery and alternator are in top condition. I recently had a my remote wire for my system heat up and cause a small electrical fire. It did not blow a fuse or anything, but i was working on my car and listening to the radio when it happened. My radio turned off for a second and came back on. That is when i noticed smoke coming from the fuse box area. It was only the remote wire that burnt up and it looks like everything else is fine. I know of many other peoples cars who are doing the same thing as mine so I don't think it has anything to do with my incident.
