Leaking trunk
Tuesday, September 16, 2008 8:12 PM
I have a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire, and I've had it for about 4-5 months. And I noticed the truck was leaking, while doing some work to my system. Has anyone else had this problem? What do I do to fix it?

I had a 6" pool of water in my spare tire well and a soaked backseat, I pulled off the taillight reinforced the seal on the light with insulating foam and adjusted the seal for my trunklid, problem solved.

Pull the trunk carpet and look into the trunk from inside the car and anywhere you see light...seal it up?

My 2004 Sunfire was leaking into the trunk through that flapper thing behind the carpet in the trunk on the passenger side inner quarter panel. I removed the flapper and sealed up the hole with a piece of plastic and silicon.

So I checked it out, and siliconed where I think it was leaking from. I'm gonna pour some water around the trunk and see if its still leaking. Hopefully I fixed it though.

Not to bring up an old post... but I would rather do that than make a new one

My trunk had been leaking for quite some time and I never could figure out where it was coming from...
I am hoping this is where it is, as I have now hammered down the plug, and gooped it up. Lets see if I still have wet carpet after this

Looking up from under the car

Inside the trunk, you can see it is lifted away

Again

Just posted to let people know if they're having a leaking trunk, this might be a good place to start looking
