burning oil smell/smoke

okay so first off i have a 99 cav z24 with an ld9 2.4 with about 160k on it. engine has always run nicely except now i seem to be smelling burnt oil usually when stopped or when accelerating hard. also when i accelerate hard a whitish smoke seems to be coming from my exhaust.... not clouds but more than normal. the last tech to give me an oil change added a little to much oil as it was over the full line.... so i'm wondering if its just the excess oil burning off as months ago i stupidly put a liter to much oil in and was blowing white smoke like crazy and i had to drain the oil and then added the correct amount and everything seemed good... i smelled oil a little every now and again thinkin it was just excess burning off and that seemed to go away until i got this last oil change....what im not sure of is my car was a tad over full after my last oil change but after about 3500-4000km im down to about half an oil tank which is abnormal as my car does burn oil but not that much in so little time or atleast usually doesnt burn so much.
just basically wondering what it could be, any help would be much appreciated.

thx guys.

check the oil / air separator under the intake manifold.

piston rings are bad ( not sealing the oil from getting into the cylinder) But you dont know which piston has bad rings, need to do a wet compression test

3 rings- botton-oil ring
- middle- oil ring
- top - compression ring

Whiteish smoke could also be a head gasket. Compression test is going to be your best bet. Especially with that many miles.
