Engine Casting Numbers?

Hi guys,

Does anyone know any of the 2.2 engine casting numbers? I bought a replacement engine for my 95 Sunfire 2.2 from a guy in another town. He said it was out of a 96. I pulled my engine this morning, had them both side by side, and there are a couple different sensors on the back side of it, as well as where the oil pressure sensor mounts on the 96, doesn't exist on my 95. Is it possible that it's a newer style engine?

The block codes on my engines are:
1995 car: GM-9, E115
Replacement: GM12, K276

Will these interchange??? I hope I didn't get screwed on it!

ya that engine will not work without a whole swap, you would have to match the 6th letter of the vin, and that casting number you are talking about is in the head when you take the valve cover off,as i needed it to identify what size valves were in the motor i have, 95 stuff seems to only interchance with other 95 stuff, ecu motor trans etc.....

sorry

I have the same problem. The motor went on my 97 2.2. I pulled it out and got another from a garage that looked same. Everything is the same except for the sensors. The 97 has 4 sensors and this one has only 2. I think I'm screwed and gotta get another motor.
