2.4 Oil Pan Torque
Thursday, October 09, 2008 7:09 PM
I am bolting down my 2.4 oil pan, and noticed that the GM book includes the bottom mount as one of the bolts. The book says 19ft LBS, while the Mount section says 97ft-lbs. Anyone know what I should do? Also the side bolts for the mount go through the timing chain cover and 49ft lbs sounds kinda high.

Any Ideas.

you may want to double check the book, because i know when i rebuilt my motor about a month ago there was ft/lbs and inch/lbs so maybe double check to see if they want inch/lbs and not ft/lbs

Here is what I am talking about.

The bolts go through the oil pan for the mount. The oil pan pic shows it as 18ft and the moutn shows it as 97ft/lbs what do I use?

Umm, yeah thats ok. I am talking about the bolts for the mount. The 106 is for the small bolts, they are 10mm head, these are 15mm

I'd use the specs on the mount... you don't want it coming loose do you?
