ok guys it's been a super long time. I hope you guys can help me out!!! I really need a hand here.
I had a 1996 cavalier 2.2L Automatic..
I've got NOW a 1997 sunfire 2.2l 5spd
I took the engine from the 1996 cavalier and installed into the 1997 sunfire.
It will crank, but will NOT run..
I am not getting spark or fuel... The dash seems to freak out, all lights flashing on and off. I also seen the odometer rolling and gaining milage with out the car running (because it only cranks will NOT start) but the key is in "on"
When the dash is not freaking out (which is sometimes) The check engine light stays on and all other lights are not flashing and not on.
I noticed that there was no plug on the sunfire wiring harness to clip into the oil pan sensor on the cavalier engine.
I had to change either the crank sensor from the sunfire engine onto the cavalier motor, due to the sunfires wiring hardness.
Does the wiring hardness or computer or dash cluster need to be installed from a 1996 cavalier 5spd into this 1997 sunfire? Or is there an issue and am over looking?

Does it just turn over all day and do nothing? Or does it start for like 3 seconds and @!#$ off? Wit the cluster doing weird things sounds like a ground issue.

Yep just turns over all day (just cranks). I pulled wire to check spark. I also pulled gas line to check if it's priming and it's not..
It does not start at all... keep in mind it's 1996 2.2L engine with 1997 harness, computer and cluster is that okay?

Did you do the Passlock re-learn as listed in the FAQ? Since you swapped the computer, the Passlock codes won't match til you do that.

Where is that FAQ? And it's all orginal 1997 except the motor is a 96.. ie the "swap"

I do not think it is that exact problem but close. I think the ign switch needs replace. If it was the passlock it would start and then shut off. I have run across this exact issue with Ecotec swap (even with 00+ cars). It seems that some ign swithes the ECU/passlock will not recognize (can't get it to go into theft lock), so you can do the learn.

Keep in mind it cranks, Im getting no spark or fuel, fuel doesnt even prime. I by passed the fuel curcuit and the pump does pump, it's like its not getting the singal to prime... grrr please help!!!

trying running a jumper wire from acc source, in youre fuse panel and see if that helps, Sounds to be a ground issue.
