parasidic draw

Ok so for the past 2 years when the weather gets cold outside mainly...i have a starting problem here and there. 2 dealerships have spend days and hours working on this problem only to tell me that they cant find it. it happens when i activate the factory security system mainly. i thought it was because of the stereo and so did the dealers but i know its wired correctly and when i put the factory head unit back in it still did the same thing. any thoughts or opinions on this? has anyone had this happen to them?....the car wont start at times and it very hard to jump is it will even jump and i have had 3 batterys put in it in less that 4 years.

First of all its PARASITIC Drain,

To do one accurately you need to completely disconnect one battery terminal and get a good connection with one lead of an ammeter on the cable and the other on the battery terminal. A EMI clamp will not accuratly read amperages lower than 1 amp so you MUST completely disconnect one battery lead and reconnect it with the ammeter in series.

You should see no more than 2-400mA drain on the battery. Note that is in Milliamps...Anything above a half an amp (over 500mA) is a large load and needs to be remedied else you will see no starts/slow cranks.

did you install anything over this period?

Also if it is only occuring in cold weather, have you had your battery tested? And what kind of battery is it? Something nice, optima etc, or some store brand??

Its a delco put in by the dealer under warranty.....i have had the battery replaced by the dealer 3 or 4 times in 4 years...the only thing i have added was the stereo but that was right after i got the car in 04. GM isnt gonna warranty anymore batteries either......it only happens when i turn the factory security system on if i only lock the doors then its fine. im kinda baffled......however the dealer says its the stereo i just think they dont wanna deal with it bc its warranty....but if it was not warranty they would be all over it like a fat kid on a cupcake and charge me my first born to do it

i was having a similar cold weather starting problem with mine, a new set of plugs and wires and a bottle of fuel line antifreeze and injector cleaner cleared that up, but yours is still pretty new...
