here's the details...
She's got a 2004 Cav 2.0 Ecotec automatic and it has stalled a few times. I don't have all the details because I wasn't there when it happened. She wasn't running low on gas nor was she on a hill. Apparently both times it happened she was slowing down to stop at a red light... It started to cut out and then just stopped but started back up fine.
I'm guessing fuel pump or maybe fuel pressure regulator but i dont see how slowing down every once in a while un less it is a short somewhere...
Any ideas?
Note: I'm 100 miles away from her... With no way to get there and she is not car saavy.
i take it you mean 2.2
with that small tidbit out of the way, check the vacuum hoses. I had a leaky hose going to my fuel pressure regulator and it would cause the car to stall once in a while when I released load from the engine (push the clutch in)
that'd be the first place I start.
after that, try replacing the IAC valve (idle air control) but only after you check the hoses for leaks. IAC valves are $130 brand new
Mine does the sort of the same thing. Whenever I start it up, I can give it a lil gas, 5 seconds later it'll start to stall. I let go of the gas pedal, and then press it again, and it won't die out. I already know that it's the fuel filter. Im just too lazy to change it.
oh yeah 2.2... mines a 2.0... heh
How many miles on it?
Change the fuel filter and seafoam it. See if that helps.
