jw if whats the best way to change the plugs on a 98 LD9...how do u get the valve cover off ....i tried i took the 4 bolts out and no luck..
take the four bolts off then pull up make sure that the wire harness is disconnected from the cover. i usual pull up on the passanger side then the rest should follow
what he said^^^^^^ sometimes it can make it easier if you loosen off the bolt that supports the fuel lines just to get some extra clearance for the wire connector
Disconnect your ICM plug,
Remove all 4 bolts,
move your cruize control and throttle cables out of the way,
yank the cover off
use needle nose pliers to remove any boots that stay on the plugs.
loosen the plugs using a socket wrench, spark plug socket, and 6" extension,
remove the wrench from the extension, and thread the plugs the rest of the way out by hand
Apply anti- seize to the new plugs
stick the plugs into the socket with the extenstion still on it,
without the socket rench connected to the extension, thread in and hand tighten the plugs,
connect you socket or tourque wrench to the extension and tighten the plugs,
re-connect any boots to the IDI cover that may have come off,
set the cover over the plugs, wiggleing the cover around until a 4 boots are ontop of the plugs,
press down on the cover.... once it starts going on... give it a few good smacks,
slide all 4 bolts back in but don't tighten them yet (you may have to wiggle to cover a little)
SNUG all 4 bolts in a criss cross pattern,
go back and tighten all 4 bolt using the same pattern,
re-connect your ICM plug,
re- clip your throttle and cruize cables back into thier holder / clip.
Start your car.
dang...thanks so much...i looked and looked and looked...couldn't find em...lol. i use to have a 02 2200 ohv cav and that was way easy. now with this 99 ld9, i was confused.
