I just changed my oil today and added 4 quarts but the dipstick is registering almost a quart low. I havent had this car long but I noticed when I first bought it a few months ago it was showing a quart low then after the dealer had the oil changed. Is this alright to leave like this or should I add another quart or so until it registers full. Or am I supposed to add 5 quarts? I checked the owners manual and it says 4 quarts.
Usually they take about 4.5 Fill it up until it reads full on the dipstick.
i usually put 4.5
i have an 01 but oil capacity is the same. owners manual suggests 4 qts
okay thats what I was thinkin about doin. thanks
It takes almost 5. Watch your oil level with the 2.4, it has a tendency of spinning a crankshaft bearing if you run it low.
I just dump 5 in mine. After 3000 miles its at the full mark.
*spins rod bearings is a problem in a few 2.4ls.
i always ran 4.5 quarts.

5 goes into my eco. used to be 4.5. seemed w/ 4.5 the stick after a few 100 miles would show to add oil!

well my 2200 takes exactly a 4.4L jug. and a qaurt is less than a litre. so if the engines are the same for oil im saying maybe 4.5-4.6 quarts
Working on obtainting an M-Class license... ?? Hint: 2 wheels.
yeah definately add some until it hits the full mark, but add a little at a time so you dont overfill it. when i had a 2.4 5 quarts was about right for mine.
Did I mention I drive a 2000 Lumina now?-----wigm-tuners.org member
