compression test
Wednesday, October 29, 2008 4:07 PM
I read in my haynes manual how to do a compression test. Now my ? is, where do I buy the tool to test the compression? Like, would it be as simple as going to advance and purchasing the kit? And how much do they usually run?
Thanks!

yeah, parts stores carry them and so do places like harbor freight.

so does snap on, and matco, etc.....but they are pricey.

I bought mine at harbor freight for $20.

I bought the tool for $25 at autozone, and I did the check, and I have a reading of 105 on the first stroke, and building about 30 psi per stroke after that to the tune of 205 psi on the 4-5 stroke. It is the same across all cylinder's as well. I just want to know if I have a healthy engine because I really want to add nitrous, and the haynes manual does not specify on what the psi should be. Thanks in advance!
