ok everyone i have a 2000 cavalier wit the 2200 motor and a 3speed automatic trans....... my problem is it wont shift out of 2nd gear it jus revs and revs and wont switch out of gear anyone know wat the hell is going on with it??? any help would be greatly appreciated thanks
1st guess would be a shifter cable/indicator error.
Have you tried bumping the car into "neutral" to see if it will shift inot 3rd??
yep tried it still jus sticks in 2nd someone was telling me it might be transmission modulator wat the hell is that??? then another guy told me somethin about its a safety feature or something wat kinda feature is that? lol
well ethier your modulator is bad, or youre in limp mode (the safety feature someone is telling you about) does it shift ok from 1st to 2nd? I would be willing to bet youre in limp mode, which likely indicates a bad speed sensor.
Did I mention I drive a 2000 Lumina now?-----wigm-tuners.org member
yeah it goes from 1st to 2nd just fine and thats probably wat is i cuz a while back i had my car scanned and they said it was going bad thanks man
well i took it into the shop to get checked out and good thing i had 2 wheel bearings that were shot and my iat sensor was measuring negative 40 degrees outside........... and about the transmission turns out i had a valve that was sticking and he told me to put lucas transmission treatment in it....... well i havent yet and it now somehow runs perfect and shifts smoother then it has since i bought the car kinda weird lol
