My poor 2000 Sunfire has been through a lot, and is still far from right. I've had two engines put in, brake lines replaced, water pump, and the radiater replaced. My brake harness was accidentally ripped off by the mechanic, and put back on (twice, the first time they zip tied it on). I'm still having problems with her, and because I'm a hotheaded teen, I will NOT give up on her. After the brake harness was replaced my ABS, service engine, and Check Engine light come on everytime i start her up. The mechanics said the check engine is from a bad O2 sensor. After I replaced the driver's side doors, My dashlights quit working. Could wiring the speakers wrong mess up my electrical system? The speakers still work fine, but someone said it could've been that. Sometimes while driving, the engine will still go up to 6000 rpm, but go slow, please tell me its not the transmission.
if I rememeber correctly the stereo and the dash-gauges are on different circuits, so replacing the door or wiring the speakers would have nothing to do with it, maybe you should look at the fuse panel and make sure no fuses are dead. Did you bring the sunfire in to be scanned to find out what the service light was for? or is this the mechanic that broke your brake harness?lol if thats the case you should bring it to a new mechanic cause I know at the dealerhip I work at we have to fix everything that we break. your ABS lights...I would check all the pluggins, and check all the connectors to make sure nothing is grounding out or damaged. But I would for sure get your car scanned to find out what the cell is and then you will know for sure if it is for sure the O2 sensor

man i guess you did have a hard time with this !! well.. as for the reving.. if your motors reving up and your not going anywhere then its either your tranny or your clutch. Do you smell like a burnt rubber smell when this happens ??
The clutch is alot cheaper to replace then the tranny, the tranny installed will run ya like 800 bucks installed if you get a decent deal.
5 speed ? what year is your car ?? are you putting 2.2 ( 2200's ) in it ? I had nothing but trouble with 2200's to.. im doing a swap on mine soon with either eco l61 or 3.4L v6,
got any buddies that know what there doing that could look it over for ya ??
My car is a 2000. I don't smell burnt rubber when it revs. I honestly don't know if it is a five speed; i do know it is automatic.
you have ethier the 3 or 4 speed if its an auto. i would imagine the trans is bad, or the filter is plugged. ever done a pan drop?

I've had the filter changed, but i don't know if it has had a pan drop.
you need to drop the pan to change the filter, so the answer to that would be yes. how many miles ago? should be done every year or 12000 miles.

I had it done like a month or two ago. I don't drive very much, my job is five minutes from my house, and my school is only 20 minutes if that.
