Alright so I just got done fixing my car. I thought. I was dropping the oil pan off, so I had to remove the starter, among other things. When I had put it all back together when I went to start all I got was a click. If I held the key I got a couple of clicks. Nothing rotated or anything. Just went Click... click... clickclick... click. The clicks maybe happened between like 2 seconds apart and like back to back a couple times in a row on occassion. My battery voltage was good, as I had removed the negative terminal. What could be wrong? This is the first time I've touched a starter...

you want to bump, then they will bump and hit real hard and a lot good.

sounds like a bad ground to the solenoid

You may well be right, but me and the old man were attempting to take one of the nuts off the solenoid and the solenoid cracked (it was all corroded and the metal was weak we weren't even turning very hard) and now I need a new starter. Oh well.
