Grinding sound.

I started my car up this morning after putting a new alternator on it because i thought this was the cause of the sound(bad bearing). but it was still making the sound, the sound is coming from around the belt and pulleys. also how hard is it to change tranny fluid on a 95 5 spd, should i get a shop to do it?

It takes 8,460 bolts to assemble an automobile, and one nut to scatter it all over the road

Bad bearing usually make a whining sound. Does your car have AC? If it does it could be the A/C clutch you are hearing. A good way to test it is turn your AC on, if the sound goes away then the AC clutch is the problem.

Actually that could be it im going to check it later, cause the noise is coming from around that region thats why i thought it was the alternator(it was shot anyway). I wanna take out my a/c anyway, so this could be a good chance too fix it all at once.
