So I was leaving my girlfriends mothers house this evening when I went to accelerate down the road got through first gear fine, then mid way through second 75% throttle, the car just drops to a idle, I pumped the gas and nothing, put in into neutral gave it gas fumbled at 500-600 RPM, backfired and stalled. It started back up after a couple seconds of cranking and ran fine. I noticed it did have a little bit of trouble starting when I used my remote start, It cranked, kinda started but fumbled to where it had to keep cranking to get it to start. and it was right after that I had the issue, I want to say that I was at 4200 RPM or in that range when the car lost power.
I had this issue partially before, and I replaced the crank position sensor cause I ended up getting a P0336 DTC. I didn't get any sort of Light this time though I have been getting weekly P0420, but I assume thats from my high flow cat. Can someone please help me out here and point me in a direction. My father told me to also look into the MAP sensor as well.

yup i had that happen on my 2.4 .. check you map sensor. on my 2..4 the hose that goes to the map sensor was cracked to nothing. changed the hose and car runs fine now. i know that you have a 2200 which is also different then my 96 2.2ohv. but check your map sensor first. if you can borrow someone else map sensor.. at least you know its a KNOWN GOOD part.
I have also been told by a few people that this sounds like a bad ICM. I think I am gonna run by my dads friends junk yard and grab a low mileage ICM/Coil packs, and a map sensor while i'm there and see what happens.

sounds like a plan... try the map sensor first easy as pie.
Seems to be good so far I replaced the ICM and the coil packs. Car seems to run stronger as well.
