Need some help i believe its a theft system problem
Saturday, November 29, 2008 10:54 AM
OK ive done my research on the forums and i cant seem to find a problem just like mine.

1st this is how it all started... i was driving down the road and my car just died when i shifted from first to second. so i coasted to a stop and tried to start it again... nothing. it would turn over but no start or kick at all.

so i checked the spark and i didnt have anything. well now i thought i would have the ignition control module checked.... it was bad. got a new one and still nothing
so then i checked the power to the ignition control mod and we're good there. so next i replaced the coils. still nothing just turn over but no crank.. i replaced the crank pos sen earlier this month. so then i thought i would try cam pos sen (although it was practically new) still nothing. about that time i saw that the theft system light was on( not blinking at all). next i replaced the ignition switch and still just turning over. I thought that i read that the theft system had to relearn the passlock when you replace eaither the comp, cluster, or igniton switch, but the light still stayed on with no flashing. so then i tried switching to my old computer and instrument cluster... still just turning over with no kick at all and the light just stays on. ive done the passlock procedure before when i swaped the car to a manual so i know a bit about it.

Also i checked all the fuses

So now the question is what caused the theft system light to trigger and the light to just stay on, or why else am i getting no spark?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

that light is on when you turn it over , or when the key is in the run position? i believe the passlock theft system cuts off fuel but not spark...

usually when passlock I is in tamper mode it will allow it to start but itll run for 2 seconds and immediately kill. also, if i remember (been a while since i angered the pl 1 gods) if it is in tamper mode the light will be flashing....

Just a guess. There might be some earth loss in the circuit. I had such on my other car, it couldn't fire up because of the earth strap broken. Check the wire from negative terminal to starter motor or from engine to body. If starter cranks but there is no spark to the plugs, check relay, ignition. If you have immobilizer, check if it works. I have Clifford in sunfire and it made a trick once to me, there wasn't contact in it.
