I switched pcms and the car wouldn't start. Did the passlock for the ecm. It said do it 3 times then it would start. After the first time it started? I do not have a fuel gauge or a temp gauge now. The temp gauge hardley goes up and the fuel gauge is not moving at all. The rpm gauge however is working fine. Someone please help me out i know theres alot of guys out there that know alot about this. Hp tuners has its an 02 alero pcm
ahh nm i dont need it. Ok next question. Missfire- changed ignition control m.- changed injectors- changed pcm. Misfire still there. Did compression test- all 150. What are my next things to do? Does the black caseing that the ignition control module goes into that spreads to the top of all 4 cyclinders ever go bad? I dont no what to do next.
my car threw both the crank shaft position and cam shaft position sensor... the first go around i only had a code for CKP (crankshaft)... while the camshaft had a code and freezeframe...
this is what the car was doing... if i drove it under 3000 RPMs, it drove fine... but if i took it past 3, and especially if the engine was cold, it felt like i was running on 2 cyls for maybe 30 sec to 2 minutes... like 5th gear at 50 MPH it rumbled like it was going to stall out... then it was fine... it only started acting funny when i took it past 3 grand... and the only time i could replicate it 100 % of the time was when the engine was cold.... also when it happened, or when i took it past 3 grand and it didnt happen, the CEL would blink for 15 seconds
i changed the cam shaft sensor... it helped... a little... i didn't get the lag/loss of cyls as much, but the CEL would still blink at high RPMS, and the next time i scanned it a few weeks later... the CKP showed freeze frame info, at one time saying an error occured at 12000 RPMS.
i swapped it out... the only problem i have now, is once in a blue moon, if i peak out 3rd gear, (like 5800 RPMS) and shift in to fourth... i dont feel like i lost any cyls, but it feels like the RPMs are crawling slowly up in fourth... and feels like i shifted in to fourth at 2500 RPMS... its just slow for a sec or two
-------------------------------------
If you change your CKP (crankshaft position sensor), you need to perform the relearn procedure... you'll need a scan tool with the relearn procedure built in to it...
This is what mine is doing except not throwing any codes
I've now checked to make sure all head bolts are tight. I've tooken the injector harness apart to make sure all wires are intact and tight. I've took out injectors and replaced them agian and make sure all connections were tight. I've double checked both big ground right at the battery and at the transmission bolt. Both are tight. Swapped ecms, swapped icms, swapped plugs. Ran commpression test, took of tps-cleans-replaced map. Next things to do-replace cam sensor- and replace the cover that the icm screws on to. BUMP BUMP BUMP. need some help. dont no what else to check for!! damnit man i should say @!#$ this car
One of them has a white stripe the other is just plain black. I unhooked this and drove the car around and nothing seemed to change. Everything was the same.
