Oh please help me!!! I have a 2005 cavalier that has been a total lemon since I got it new in 2005. 1 problem after another long story too many issues to mention. Latest problem car wont start try everything turns out its a ignition issue. Whole ignition needs replacing, the whole thing that says ecotec on the top on the motor is one unit (thats what they say is bad)I have changed the plugs a bunch I can swap that out so easily but the shop wants 680 bucks to do it . I say I pay for the shop time to diagnosis it and at night in the shops parking lot drop a new unit in. 4 bolts and 1 plug taken it out 3 times before no biggie. I was thinking go to junk yard and pick one up whats cars/years would have the same part as my 05 ecotec oh please help me please the economy is bad I am so piss poor this car has been so fuking bad its a joke!!!

Hopefully the shop doesn't park it in the shop overnight!

Just my opinion here, but i say if the car is a total lemon like you say it is once you get it running right get rid of it before it nickel and dimes you into the poor house.
Dont get caught working on your car on their property. Could end up being a lot more expensive than paying them to fix it. Best bet is to just pay the diag. then tow it away.
Good Point Mitdr, they could probably stick you with trespassing on private property charges etc
Are you sure this isn't the problem:

You could always pay the bill then you and a buddy push it into the street. As long as it isn't designated no parking, you don't have to pay for a tow, they can't get you in trouble for parking on their property.
it literally takes 2 minutes to swap that out...
Pay the diagnostic fees..
Swap in their parking lot...
It's not that big of a deal.
