So on the way home from work the other day, i developed a terrible misfire and decided to limp it home. Well I got the car home and started looking at it. First I had a map sensor code that has been intermittent since I got the car. I pulled the ignition module cover off and found the spark plug boots to be all burnt up and the coil packs to have burn marks. I replaced the spark plugs, plug boots, and the ignition coils. Tried starting the car and still runs poorly. Can somebody point me in the right direction to help fix this car? Thanks in advance.
replace the white coil pack housing.
make sure the vaccumm line going to the map sensor isnt cracked.
but willing to bet the white coil pack housing(should be 40$ at a parts store if i remember, been a while) is your problem.
also, dont run bosch plugs, stick with AC delco.
good luck.
and when your check oil light comes on, replace the sensor in the oil pan.
( i had a 96 z24 once upon a time).
Ill check the white housing tomorrow, i was going to try to check continuity for all the terminals but my multimeter was at work...tomorrow hopefully I really want to start my s10 project and get this going so i can drive it...thanks alot
If you have a map code why would you look at the coils and plug boots first? I would say a map issue. The cracked hose on the map sensor can cause what you are saying.
I must be one of the very few to have not replace the white coil housing on my car yet. 97k still going strong.

Because the map sensor problem was their previously. It is running on only 2 cylinders and shows symptoms of it being an ignition problem, not the map sensor, besides it runs the same with it plugged in or unplugged.

The car should not run the same with the map sensor pluged in or not. The Map sensor controls timing in certain conditions and also controls fuel in select conditions as well.

Yeah i know that, it means the map isn't functioning properly
