so my power steering pump snapped the shaft two weeks ago. bought a new pump and installed it. worked fine for a little bit. then today it went out again. its getting warrantied but is there something else that could be causing them to snap?
Your power steering pump supplies presure to the steering rack assembly. Maybe a fault there (i.e. blocked fluid circulation) is causing excessive presure that is causing you pump's early failure.
could also be a cheaply rebuilt part that did not put a new shaft in when they did the rebuild.
also, are you sure the shaft is snapping, or is the impellor coming off the shaft?
