Exhaust is going downhill
Monday, January 12, 2009 7:48 PM
So with Michigan winters, my exhaust is falling apart on me. I'd liek to replace the entire thing but I don't want to spend an arm and a leg. I also want some sound but i'd like to keep it as quiet as possible. What should I do?

Which parts of your exhaust is failing? Just whole thing in general or muffler/cat/etc.

Well my new place of residence has these stupid speed bumps and no matter how slowly i may go over them, my car never fails to slam down once the front wheels have gone over. Theres a small leak somewhere near the front, I can hear it. and the muffler is just hanging there and it swings to the point that it's messing up my rear ls skirt. With the amount of rust that I kKNOW is eating up my exhaust, it'd be better to just replace the damn thing

My buddy's 03 has a hole in the pipe....then he hit a nice pothole...

Just replace the whole darn thing...Damn potholes are huge around here.....

If you want a full header back pm me Mark.

If you just want a cat-back you can't go wrong with a magnaflow or the new Atomic setup.

I'd check the "flex" coupling just behind the manifold. It could be the cause of the extra noise.

if the Vibrant is too loud, could I always have a resonator put in?

^yup. w/ any exhaust really. i don't think you'll need it w/ the vibrant.

I looked up sound clips on youtube and it's not bad. Hell if it sounds good and it's loud, I might just leave it that way.
