i know it can be many things. but the wierd thing is the only thing i can even see on is ONLY the odometer on my guage cluster... my battery would be dead overnight. i tried pulling the fuses on my remote start thinking maybe the it was sending something to my guages.. but the odometer stayed on... i pulled my guage cluster fuse and it went off... also i hear a solenoid sounds like it changing positions down by kick panel under the dash. (did u know the cavalier wont start with that fuse out or blown?) any ideas?? i dont wanna replace the guage cluster again with out knowing for sure.
its an 02 cavalier by the way.
if it's a clicking noise under the dash, it's probally a relay going bad, or getting power when it's not supposed to. good place to start...
Did I mention I drive a 2000 Lumina now?-----wigm-tuners.org member
well.... yes it clicks when i pull the cluster fuse and put it back in... so its changing its state so the relay must be good.. right??? i am curious on what could be energizing that relay with the vehicle powered off.. unless someone has somethin else
Well to clarify the post by 97drfire a relay can click with a fuse pulled but,a relay can FAIL and not stay closed or open to either be on or off and draw current and over time burn up the relay, or blow a fuse.I would probably replace the relay even though it just clicks removing the fuse does not mean the relay is necessarily good! Feel the relay and if it is WAY hot it prolly is stuck in position not uncommon when they start to fail. That is where I would start and also use a multimeter check ur battery car off should be on average of 12.0-12.5 volts with nothing ON.Do the relay change then if no change start doing voltage checks and checking ur grounds etc.
ok.... thankyou.... looks like i am goin to have to wait to check it out... looks like an sporatic problem. whatever it was cleared up this weekend.. so as soon as i can figure somethin out i will post somethin on here.... thanx fellas.... i will check this suggestion as soon as problem comes back.... hopefully it doesnt...
If you say it was a sporadic problem was it colder than normal outside? If so maybe the battery is going bad. just a thought
was a thought....however it did kill my battery.. i had it tested.. i then replaced it... and the problem persisted...
