hissing sound front engine

For about 2 weeks now I notice a hissing sound near the power steering/engine area. It happens when I get between 2-3 rpms. Looking under the hood I can tell the general area but can't pin point where it would be coming from. Any idea what this could be?

I read this in another forum. He's describing exactly what's going on with my car.

The black cylindrical thing he's talking about is your brake booster. It's possible you have a vacuum leak.

Is a brake booster hard to change out? What can happen if it isn't changed out right away?

You can have dust and impurities and crap make its way into your engine.

i think i got the same thing.
i can tell what it is, it 's around the right side of the motor and sounds like a supercharger but quiet and it gets higher pitched with the rpm's.
