so, i have a base coupe 2000 cavalier auto, and yesterday it started happening. usually, as you guys know, when you open your door, the radio turns off automatically, and the light goes on, so you can see. well, yesterday, it stopped doing that. my radio stayed on, and no light. then i drove to my gf's house, and it worked, then today, it wasn't working again...anyone know what it could be?(maybe something to do with the -2 temp outside now?...i hate winter...)
sooooo many things to fix on my cav right now....strut mounts are shot, radio doesn't play out of 3 speakers(stock), shifter light is out on shifter bezel, and my gas gauge randomly goes haywire, and now the door thing. lol, what do you guys think i should fix(obviously after the strut mounts, cuz i'm gonna assume thats the most important one)
Could be the little switch in the door sticking...
thats what i figured...and why i put maybe the cold...you think that cold temps like this would make it stick?...or something else?
spray with wd 40 .my broek in my cav .inside rotted out of the switch.if it's not stuck just go pocket one at a u pick someday when you are there for something else

i have a question for you.... are you typing from a cell phone? like a black berry? because its just horrible lately..
yeah, gotta be the door switch, just replace it, they're like $5
have that same problem the problem just gets worse in -20 lol. now every once and a while i can be driving down the highway and my interior light will go on for a second then fade away anyone have any clue what that could be?
Owen, I had an interior light that liked to come on when I hit bumps.
The rubber cover from the switch was long gone that made up some room to push the switch in further.
I electrical taped a penny on the door where it hit the switch.
Now it pushes the switch in further and never happened again.
Dave that's defacing government property what you meant to say was a penny washer you bought @ the local hardware store correct...
