a know a lot of ppl here use rp or mobil 1, but why? what makes it better? my car has 147400 miles on it, and my mechanic told me i should use gtx cuz its the best. input?....anyone?....bueller?

If i were you i would stick to one brand of oil

I switched to Royal Purple at 120, 000 Kilometers and never looked back, i did get some leaking around my cam towers when i first changed, overall im very happy except the cost

All brands of oil have different additives so i were you i would stick to what you have been using or if you have been changing alot, find one you want and stick to it

I was running GTX in my 98 Z that i had as a DD and never had an issue

Also forgotten by most is a good oil filter, i run WIX now, i was running a K&N but just made the switch to WIX after reading so many good things about them.

well, right now, i have in my car the cheap crap that my mechanic uses, so i will probably switch over to the gtx high milage oil for my next change(coming up...)

what are the advantages of the wix over k&n?

I've been running GTX for 3 years now with a fram sure grip. No problems here.

For your engine I would switch to valvoline maxlife. It's a semisynthetic unlike other high mileage oils and consistently gets good used oil analysis. You could also stretch your oil changes out to every 4 or 5 thousand. Wix and K&N are very good oil filters. Go with whichever is cheaper. AC-Delco still makes a good filter and can be had for cheaper than those 2.

I've used Mobil 1 since new...in all my cars. It's better because it's synthetic..it will protect the engine better than a dino oil.
