My '99 Z24 decided to blow oil all over the top driver's side of the engine. I lost almost ALL of it in the engine compartment and barely got home from work last night. I'm about to go clean some things up so I can get an idea of what's going on out there.
Any ideas? Maybe someone had this happen to them?
Obviously my oil light came on, but with an intermittent blink, to a longer flash to a steady light over an 8 mile period. This is my second motor and it's about 2 years old with 148,000 miles.
Oil pressure is an obvious factor, but what's on the top driver's side of the engine that would cause so much spray?

If it's actually "spraying" (possibly indicating the leaking oil is under pressure), check the oil pressure sender switch. These have been known to leak, but I've never seen one actually spray.
I'll do that! So these are a problematic issue? Pretty much squirting oil while under pressure? Or does it just leak? I lost quite a bit of oil in a short amount of time, twice (I threw 2 quarts in at a gas station to get me home.). Not to mention it seems to have coated the back of the engine compartment...brake resevoir, tranny, firewall, hood. The more I look at it, the more it seems contained to one area, just under the brake resevoir and just above the neutral safety switch on the tranny.
Thanks for your response!!! Your help is greatly appreciated!! I'll let you know if it fixes the issue.

i would agree with him check your oil pressure sending unit deal its on the drivers side under your idi cover just under your coil pack plug/wire
SUCCESS! You were right! It's funny you said you never heard of one spray before, because, my brother said the same exact thing! He's a Chrysler Tech.
The other funny thing about it is the switch itslef was completely bone dry, but when I ran my finger underneath it, there was a drop of oil there. The connector was soaked, but the wires to the connector were dry. Strange.
