4 occurences, first it cranked but nothing, second time, it would start, and sputter, and try and hold on, and clunk and die out, several times. Third time was a repeat of the first. Fourth, symtoms mimiced the second occurence, I started the engine repeatedly and got this one on an HPT log. After all occurences the car started and drove flawlessly. No DTC's were recorded other than a preexisting IAT code. The problem is at random and not related to ECT/Ambiant Temp.
The only ideas I can think of all have flaws:
- Sticky fuel pump relay, this explains an intermittent no fuel condition, but I don't understand why it would sputter sometimes, And perform flawlessy most.
- Fuel pump, this was my first thought, I've only ever seen fuel pumps go out suddenly though.
- MAP sensor (or circuitry), not it, confirmed by the log.
- Fuel filter, I highly doubt it, it was changed about 12k ago and the problem is to intermittent to be this.
- Faulty PCM, possibly sending a wierd injector and/or spark signal?
- ICM, I'm not sure how this works, so it's in the air
- CPS, assuming spark is timed via the cam and not the crank, I could see this.
I may have missed some, what do YOU think is most likely? I'm leaning towards the relay, where is it located? I'd like to do a voltage drop on it. I don't currently have access to a scope. Which is why I posted. Thanks guy's. I'd hate to have to drive my mom's Honda. lol

I feel like an idiot for the tripple post. It's not the relay, swapped it out with the A/C and nothing. It's just cranking now. Oy....

While I am a first gen fluent a fuel pump can start to fail and get weak and not necessarily just die.I would do a fuel pressure check this will answer that issue right off.If it is the original pump I would consider it suspect 1 based on ur symptoms.If it does go out u will not move and my pump did act up for a wk b4 it died and left me sitting.Do a psi chk.That is my suggestion.Either that or ur filter may have trash in it regardless of mileage this does happen.
57 running PSI IIRC. Lucky me, had the pressure tester with me today when the pump crapped out uphill in an intersection. 0 PSI. At least I know whats wrong. I always thought chevy pumps went with no warning, thats what I've seen on at least 5 chevy trucks.

everyone talks trash on a honda, till they get SMOKED by one.. hahaha.. my honda would burn your cavi, and i LOVE cavis.. have more respect, cause honda are the dopeness for a reason.. I dont see any cavis making 300 hp, naturally aspirated, and on pump gas.. I see K-series hondas do it all the time...

You're right, honda's do have tremendous N/A potential. And since your the first one to bring up my sig (for no aparent reason because I never trash anyone) I think you should know that [A] implies a singular noun. Meaning I have a friend who owns a honda who I would race at the local strip untill he lapsed registration and just made it a track car.
You're pictures are nothing special. I could probably point randomly in a parking lot and pop a hood that looks like that underneath. I have much more respect for my coworkers pt cruiser than I have for you.
