ok guys i really need to know some info on this. i have researched it a bit and i am still doing so. i have a 96 z with a 2200 in it.... yes a 2200.i didnt put it in. anyway the engine in it is from an older cav i believe.

i also have a blown 2200 in my 00 and its a base and has the right harness for the 2200.

now my intentions are to swap the 2200 out of my 96 and put it in my 00 but that and a few ppl got me thinking since the one in the 96 is much older then the one in the 00 will the harnesses still line up and connect in the right places or did gm change the harness pattern? i know that the 96 has more options then the 00 but that shouldnt effect it would it? also i know there are 2 different 2200's used over the years and i was wondering if anyone has come across this and could help me out.

hopefully come next winter ill be putting an eco in it for the winter mods. but untill then i need a car to drive. thank you guys for any and all help.

If it's a REAL z24, it has a 2.4 in it unless someine switched it to a 2200, which would be pointless. also, there are two dofferent versions of the 2.2 OHV engine: 95-97=2.2 98-02=2200. These two are totally different engines.

yes its a real z24. i didnt swap the 2200 in it the owner before me did.... i hate it.

so the harnesses wouldnt match up at all?

I think you might really have a base model and someone swapped the body panels. That seems a little more likely. You could always check the VIN.

But, anyway. The Ecotec is your best investment.

yes trust me the vin matches up to a z24 and they dropped a 2200 in it. lol.

it doesnt matter now cause the Z is totalled.
thats why i bought the 00 base.
but im calling around tomorrow for prices on the ecotec engine and tranny.
