So I did a few searchs but couldnt find what im looking for. Is there such thing as a stop leak fluid that you can pour in with your oil to help seal any small leaks up? because my car does not leak a whole bunch like no big puddles or anything it just slowly leaks a little (since I started using full synthetic) from somewhere which is impossible to trackdown and leaves small spots after sitting overnight. If this stuff exists does it work?
my opinion is barrs leak works good so small leaks should be no problem....i had a 4 cyl mustang that leaked about a 1/3 quart a day from rear main seal and fixed it, but i sold it about 2 weeks after so i cant tell long term effects... i heard barrs leak works great though so i would say give it a try.
any of those "stop leaks" products are bad for your vehicle. im a mechanic in training so i know what im talking about when i say that. if it can seal the leak, then it can also plug up other parts of the system - think of it that way haha
No such thing as A Mechanic In A Can..Find the leak and get it fixed the right way...
Ok that makes sense that it would clog up other things in the engine. So how can I track down where most of the oil is coming from? It looks like its coming from everywhere if I just look under the car. What are the main spots to check for and how hard is it to replace the seals or w.e is leaking?
I would say stop using synthetic oil! Go back to dinosaur oil and add some STP oil treatment, which I've always liked. If it's a gasket that's leaking, nothing will stop it, but if it's a seal there are lots of additives that will help swell the rubber and slow down or stop your leak.
This is exactly why you shouldn't switch to synthetic on a high mileage engine. There's only a minimal benefit and a whole lot of lost money.
