been messing with the stupid 440 code evap system changed gas cap couple days later light goes out yea...wrong 5 days later light comes back on same code....any ideas would be greatful have to get to pass emmision this month dont wont to have to let the car sit and buy a new one

0440 usually specifies a large leak in the system or a bad evap purge solenoid. If the gas cap isn't the problem, I would start by checking all the vacuum lines that are associated with the EVAP system. If they all check out, then I would start looking into the purge solenoid. And maybe someone else can clarify this, but I think the PCM uses a vacuum sensor in the fuel tank to monitor vacuum in the system and when a sufficient level doesn't exist for a period of time it triggers the 0440 code...so probably unlikely, but if everything else checks out ok, you might want to keep that sensor in mind.
