So I have a new problem. My car is eating Turn/Brake Fuses. Seems to only happen when the car is running(Not just switched ON). Happens even when I'm NOT pressing the Brake OR using the turn signals.
I noticed when I switch the car ON and turn on the signals that the turn signal flasher seems to slow down from normal to about 1 flash every 3 seconds progressively, then it recovers to normal speed. Also the hazards have 100% stopped working.
I have not tampered with any of the turn or brake lighting, and from what I can tell all of the wiring and plugs are intact.
If I switch the Hazards ON(even though it does not work) then the Fuse does not blow. If I switch it off then the fuse blows immediately.
With the hazard switch on, the fuse does not blow, however the Turn signals and brakelights still dont work.
Could this be a bad turn signal flasher? Would that blow the Fuse?
Wow I feel stupid, Just realized... Hit the brake, POP fuse blows.
If I turn on the Eflasher Then it dosent blow however. Brake Lights dont work when the E-lights are on however
So problem still here.
Blah! How do I find the short?
Well Unplugged the Taillight bulb sockets and Pulled the Fuse, Put a test light in place of the fuse and Press the brake...Test light lights up, So its defiantly a short in-line with the Brakes.
I cannot find it, Followed the harness from the tail lights into the Pass 1/4 interior panel, all good there, Where else should I look?
Short in OEM harness Behind the damn Pass 1/4 panel Plastic.
Procedure to find:
#1 Disconnect Tail light bulbs and 3rd Brakelight
#2 Remove Tail light fuse
#3 Install a sest bulb IN PLACE of the Tail light fuse
#4 Twist and pull out brake light switch to stay "ON"
#5 If a short is present then test light should stay lit
#6 Starting from tail lights shake and tug wiring carefully and keep an eye on the test light, if it flickers or Goes out you have found your short.
Hope this helps someone else in the future!
gj on figuring that out...props for teh DIY!!!
