Blinking Oil Light

I did a search and nothing came up, so here's the problem:

when I was staying in Orlando and being subjected to bumper-to-bumper traffic, my temp gauge would rise -obviously- as I was sitting for extended periods of time. well I noticed quite a few times that my oil light would blink on and off.. sometimes it'd be just once or twice, and sometimes it'd do it more than a few times. does this mean that the oil was getting too hot and tripping the sensor? for questions sake, the oil seems to stay where it needs to on the dipstick (not leaking or burning any off), so I'm not low.. and it only comes on when the temps rise, and they seem to get a good ways up, about 2 notches above normal operating temps

also, if it gets that hot and I turn the car off before I get the chance to let it come back down to normal operating temps, the car wont start back up for a while.. (sometimes with the traffic there, I just dont have the running room to ride around and get the wind across the radiator enough to bring it back down)

need to get a oil pressure gauge on it. Sounds like the oil is getting so hot and causing the pressure to drop.
