How do i go about changing gasket/seal?

Or does this have to be done by a window place?

first ya gotta find a new one.. then ya have to remove the rubber trim on the inside of the sunroof that hides the screws that keeps the sunroof in.. then you dump a can of gas in the car, stand back and throw in a match.. roast your choice of hot dogs or marshmellows..

honestly if you cant figure it out by looking at it your best best would be take it somewhere you trust or have heard good things about and wont try to rip you off.. if you havent taken on a project like this theres a good chance it will just get worse

its not terribly hard to do but its not just simple plug an play type application..you have to remove a bunch of screws..lift out the sunroof peices, lay down gaskets possibly sealent and keep everything in order and gaskets in place while trying to get everything lined back up and back in order..

the pic below gives an idea of what the sunroof for your car consists of.. aside from the weather stripping/gaskets/seal it could be a clogged drain tube..disconected draintube ect ect..

1) Sunroof glass 2) Weatherstrip 3) Sunshade
4) Guide Guide Back 5) Handle 6) Sunroof assy
7) Frame 8) U-nut U-nut Back 9) Track Right
10) Front Front Back 11) Rear Rear Right 12) Grommet Grommet Back
13) Clamp Clamp Back 14) Module 15) Sunroof switch
16) Sunroof switch Retainer 17) Wire harness 18) Motor
19) Support brace 20) Lace

price of the weather stripping/gasket/seal itself from gmpartsdirect.com is about 90+shipping..you can find it cheaper elsewhere im sure but again.. if you do this yourself it can cost you more in the long run..

How do i go about checking this drain tube?

be the same thing.. open up your sun roof (some can have the glass removed without taking the whole frame and gasket set up taken out as well) from there ya just have to locate where the drain is.. check to see if it is clogged or take a cup or water and slowly pour some into the drain area and then check under your car to see if there are any wet spots ( i dont know where the drain tube will lead to so the wet spot could be anywhere)

if that doesnt help much sit in your car and have a friend pour a few big cups or buckets of water over the sun roof and see where its leaking from, open the sunroof and start checking in that area ,continue from there..

I have a friend with a saturn ion and his sunroof was leaking on him, so He cleaned all his drain holes and hoses that the water runs in to and down to the ground, and it stopped leaking. This may be the problem u are having. Try pouring water down each of the drain holes, I think there is one in each corner, and see if they all drain properly on to the ground, and if not, this could be your problem.

Hi,

As already pointed out, check your drain tubes.
Most people mistakenly believe that the seal on the sunroof keeps out all the water when it is closed. This is not the case, sure it prevents a huge quantity from getting in, but some will enter. That is why there are drain tubes in the four corners of the roof.
Little piece of leaves or other natural debris will float to the tube and lodge in the opening. Over time a little dirt joins it and you have a dam so the water flows over the edge of the water channel and pours on your head instead.

Take a piece of wire, like generic bailing wire, and form a very small J on the end of it. Use this to PULL the debris out of the hole, just don't go pushing the debris down and down for it can lodge in the hose and now you need to disassemble half the car to fix it!
Use a SMALL quantity of water to check your lever of success. Not a lot of water gets in so the drains are not huge.

Also be careful that you DO NOT PUSH THE DRAIN TUBE OFF THE NIPPLE!!!! It's just a plastic tube force fit onto a metal tube. you can knock it off if you are not careful and you will regret doing so.
