1998 Sunfire GT 4 SPD (Canadian, cluster is KPH)

For some reason my odometer is stuck in trip mode, and will not go back to the odometer reading. It is still fully visable and is not flickering or giving obscure readings, the trip odometer is functioning correctly with the exception that the "button" that resets it/changes back to ODO has no effect.

Has anyone had this problem? Any solution? Or ideas? I wish it was as simple as the 00+ new cars I Would just swap in a new cluster, but the mileage info is stored in the cluster itself for this year.

I'm thinking something to do with the contact point between the push button and cluster, but i've had it apart and the contacts are clean, no amount of pressure will cause it to even think about going back to ODO...

Help!!
