Hi,
I am a college student, and I own a 99 sunfire 2.2 ohv. This last summer i replaced all of my brakes rotors and calipers, but for the past month or so i have had a chug happen when ever i use the brakes. I dont think it is affecting the performance cause i can stop well. If you have any ideas on what this might be i would really appricate it. I was thinking that maybe i didnt wear in the new pads in correctly when i replaced the old ones.
thanks
did you buy cheap @!#$?
chances are the rotors are warped. Time to do brakes again.

this. might not hurt to check/ turn/ replace the drums, too.

All stock...........lol.
Yeah i got the better of the two rotors that i could get, but maybe i should either turn them or maybe upgrade to drilled and slotted.
Do you think that the drums could cause this also?
Did you make sure to Put the correct shoes where they belong in the drums?
The larger shoe goes in the back.... I've seen people put both rear shoes in one wheel and both front shoes in the other,,,, or put them on reversed and have that problem before.....
Although the brake shoes on J-bodies are so close that you almost have to have them sitting next to eachother to tell them apart.
I found out the majority of the problem.
It was a bad drivers side wheel bearing.
By the way it's a b***h to do.
Thanks for your help
Since when?
I would be willing to bet that your brakes are warped as well. Especially if you put ceramic pads on.

I am not sure what you mean by chugging, but when I had noticed i needed rotors, mine would wobble around a little bit, like a shimmy back and forth. Take the car to an empty lot, or somewhere where you can get to around 10 mph, and slowly brake. When you are breaking, let go of the wheel, and see if it stays straight, or wiggles back and forth (or side to side, how ever you wanna say it). If it is wiggling around, it probably is the rotors. Look at the pads for uneven wear. If they aren't wearing out evenly, then its the rotors. You probably don't need drilled/slotted rotors, but get something a tad better then the el-cheapo pep boys stuff.

Sounds to me you got warped from rotors as well, I just front end shake replace the rotors, then it was gone, Its a good thing to check and make things are set right in the rear brake shoes,
Good Luck.
do you drive a lot? do you drive hard? are you a 2-foot driver? did u replace the drums? Do you drive mostly in the city? <rhetorical questions
