No Low headlight
Saturday, April 04, 2009 12:57 AM
Awhile ago my running lights started flickering while driving. Got out and looked and my passenger low beam light was out. Changed the light and still wasn't working. I played around with the wiring and it worked for awhile again and now I'm back to no low beam. What doesn't make sense is the high beam works. Never any issues with the high beams.

Could this problem be in the wiring? It's def. not the bulb. Car is a r-title and has 40K on it. Any ideas on what I can check?

common problem man you gotta check teh harness. Im having a similar problem now and have had headlight problems since i got my car! its getting to teh point where im just gonna buy some HID's and wire em up to my parking lights.... anyway check teh headlight harness especially on teh corners of teh radiator...when i first had a problem i found about 6 wires full of corrosion at teh corners and had to resplice em. Check it all tho not just teh corners

Do you live in a state that uses road salt in the winter, grounds are typically a problem in those areas, and not in southern states.

Heres what you need to do, get a wiring diagram and a voltmeter, find out if you have 12V at the low beam.

The ground it would make sense to me, if your ground was bad, it would cause the high beams not work, since they share the same ground. Typically a ground isnt used just for one wiring area, but several componets all share the same ground.

You say its a rebuily, was that area damaged?

I would remove the headlamp, see what voltage you have, inspect the connector very closely, and look at the wiring going back.

Car was hit on the drivers side, this is the passenger side headlight. High beam works on the side just not the low or day time running light. Looked at the connector several times and couldn't find anything...never did the voltmeter, I'm sure this sounds dumb but do you just hold the ends of the voltmeter on the wires to be tested?? I won't send myself to the moon will I?? I have a voltmeter..brand new, never used cuz well...i don't know how to use it.
