Hi I have a 2000 Chevy Cavalier Z24. I've been having problems with my sunroof. When the temperature outside is warm, I have no problems with my sunroof. But if I'm driving and it gets cold my sunroof will not close all the way. Or I can't even open it at night. What is wrong with my sunroof?
My experience is with GM power window motors which aren't very robust and often act the same way when they're close to worn out and/or starved for lubrication. The windows might work normally (for a while anyway) when it's warm, but weakly or not at all when cold. Someone with direct sunroof experience will hopefully chime in with other thoughts.
I would agree that it sounds like the sunroof motor is either bad or the lube on the tracks is binding when cold. Lube first, and if problem still occurs, I would say you need a motor.
